POMHA History

The Penn-Ohio Club has been in existence since the sixties with "Morgan Horse Lovers" from Northeast and Central Ohio to Northwest and Central Pennsylvania. We are an affiliated club of the American Morgan Horse Association. Over the years, POMHA has presented informative speakers, veterinarians, blacksmiths, nutritionists, judges clinics, tack swaps, a barn raising, field days and more!

The most important event was the annual Penn-Ohio All Morgan Horse Show in Meadville, PA over the Fourth of July weekend. It was the highlight of the club for decades, and drew quality Morgans from several states. It was a showcase for the popular Futurity Program, the Stallion Sweepstakes, and many memorial trophies. Sadly, many factors led to it's end in 2017, after 40 years! The club is still a supporter and sponsor of the well known Morgan Gold Cup Regional Horse Show. There were five clubs that were the founding supporters for this horse show and POMHA is one of the last clubs remaining.

With the changing times comes a new open all-breed horse show sponsored by the POMHA club. The Covered Bridge Horse Show is held at Ashtabula County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, Ohio. Discover this fun event on our website today!
